What we believe
Core Values
- Truth: The Bible is the Word of God & the source of truth and life – it will be the foundation upon which One truth will stand.2 Timothy 3:15b-17, Matthew 4:4, Hebrews 4:12, Romans 10:17, Psalm 119:105
- Evangelism: The heart and soul of One Truth Church is the good news of salvation and new life in Jesus Christ, and making disciples out of the lost will be the driving motivation behind everything we do.
Luke 4:18-19, Matthew 28:18-20, 1 Corinthians 9:16, Romans 1:16-17 - Worship: Worship is the reason we live. We exist for God’s glory and seek to worship and honor Him in all things. Our worship is intimately linked to our evangelism, for evangelism’s goal is to draw new worshippers to God.John 4:23-24, Luke 4:8, Romans 12:1, Colossians 3:16-17, Psalm 95:6
- Prayer: Prayer is the lifeblood of the follower of Christ and is central to our intimacy with Him and our ability to discern His will. It is our greatest source of strength and power.Luke 5:16, Romans 12:12, Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2, James 5:16
- Grace: One Truth Church will be a community governed by grace, with people dealing graciously with one another in response to the grace each has received from God. We feel that there are already enough judgmental Christians in the world, and so we will not add to their number. We believe that Jesus was full of grace, and therefore His followers should be as well. We recognize that we are all sinners who were hopeless until the grace of God was given to us, and so we will intentionally maintain an accepting atmosphere where all are encouraged to “come as they are, but never be the same.”John 1:14, Romans 3:23-24, Romans 6:14, Romans 8:1, Ephesians 2:8-10, Colossians 4:6, Hebrews 12:15, 2 Peter 1:2, 2 Peter 3:18
- Community: We believe that we are called to place a high importance on living our lives in community with other believers. It is through community that we are unified, positively influenced to grow in our walks with the Lord, held accountable, and are able to share in life’s joys and sorrows. We will intentionally seek to create and maintain strong, safe small-group communities where Christians can grow together, and unbelievers can witness authentic Christianity and hear the good news, and all people can build meaningful relationships.Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:24-25, Philippians 2:1-2, 1 John 1:7
- Service: We believe that as followers of Jesus, serving one another should always be at the forefront of our consciousness. We also value service because we believe that through it, we are able to reach true maturity as Christians. Furthermore, it is our conviction that followers of Jesus Christ should be unparalleled in our efforts to sacrifice in order to meet the needs of “the least of these.”
Isaiah 1:17, Mark 10:45, Galatians 5:13, 1 Peter 4:10, Matthew 25:34-40, John 13:14-17 - Authenticity: One Truth Church will be a “mask-free zone,” where each person is encouraged to be himself without pretense or fear. We will strive to be a community of humble and transparent people, where “what you see is what you get.” Our authenticity will manifest itself by our gentleness, kindness, honesty, and our willingness to forgive. We will recognize that we are all broken people made beautiful through the work of Jesus.Colossians 3:12, James 4:10, 1 Peter 3:8, 1 Peter 5:5, Ephesians 4:2
- Creativity: One Truth Church will strive to maintain an atmosphere where creativity and beauty are celebrated, and each believer is encouraged to express creativity within his own giftings. We believe that the creativity of mankind is an essential part of the Imago Dei, and that God is glorified when His creations use the gifts He has given to create back to Him.Ephesians 3:20-21, Psalm 33:3, Psalm 40:3, Exodus 35:10
- Risk: One Truth Church will intentionally take risks and step out in faith in the name of the Lord and for the purposes of reaching the lost with the gospel. We will create an atmosphere of openness to new ideas and new pursuits that will honor the Lord, and we will be willing to “step out of the boat” and trust in Jesus to bring success. Even faith adventures that we may feel were unsuccessful will be celebrated as learning experiences and worthy risks in the name of the Lord. One Truth Church will steadfastly resist the boxing of God.Hebrews 10:38, Matthew 14:27-29, Matthew 9:17
